What is Ayurveda ?
Ayurveda, known as the oldest system of healthcare, has a history dating back 5000 years. It aims to maintain the health of individuals and restore health for those who are sick.
An Ayurvedic treatment goes beyond a simple massage with Ayurvedic oil. The use of incorrect medicated oils based on individual factors can lead to future problems. Therefore, Ayurvedic treatment requires the expertise of a doctor to determine the appropriate treatments, combination of oils and medicines, and delivery by trained therapists.
What makes Ayurveda different?
Discover the Ayurvedic Approach: Detoxify, Heal, and Thrive
Ayurveda, unlike other medical practices, goes beyond providing temporary relief for aches and pains. It focuses on addressing the underlying cause of pain, which is often linked to poor digestion, inadequate nutrition, and the accumulation of toxins in the body. These toxins can manifest as undigested food deposits in our joints and throughout the body.
Consider the case of someone who is overweight and experiencing knee pain. Simply prescribing exercise and a weight-loss diet may not provide lasting relief and could even worsen the condition, leading to mental stress. In contrast, an Ayurvedic doctor looks beyond the weight issue and takes into account the role of toxicity in the knee joints, causing heat and pain. To alleviate inflammation, the knee joints need to be cleansed of toxins and lubricated with healthy fluids, both internally and externally. Once the knees are healthier and the pain subsides, yoga and exercise become more effective and sustainable. This simple approach of detoxifying the body restores its ability to heal itself, boosts the immune system, and increases energy levels. With this newfound health and confidence, unwanted viruses can be easily fended off.
In Ayurveda, the focus is not just on treating illness but also on preventing it and promoting self-healing. It empowers individuals to live in a way that slows down the aging process and cultivates habits of self-care. By adopting Ayurvedic practices, you can promote and sustain your own self-healing journey.
Your
Constitution
and Its Inner Balance
Vata, Pitta and Kapha: Balancing the Three Principle Energies of the Body
In Ayurveda, the concept of “Prakriti” refers to the unique constitution or makeup of an individual. According to Ayurvedic philosophy, every person is made up of a combination of three energies or doshas – Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. When these energies are in balance, a person experiences good health, both physically and mentally, and enjoys harmonious relationships with others.
However, various factors such as a wrong diet, lack of physical activity, or unhealthy lifestyle choices and climate change can disrupt the balance of these energies within the body. When the constitution and inner balance are disturbed, it can lead to the development of diseases and health issues.
In Ayurveda, the focus is on restoring the balance of the doshas to promote healing and well-being. This is achieved through a combination of internal medicine, external therapies, Panchakarma cleansing techniques, and practices like yoga and meditation.
What is
Panchakarma
and how its works?
Panchakarma is a set of five treatment procedures for detoxification in Ayurveda. The term "panchakarma" is derived from the words "pancha" meaning five and "karma" meaning treatment procedures. These procedures aim to cleanse the body of toxins and restore balance to the doshas.
The five treatment procedures in panchakarma are:
- Vamana: This involves controlled vomiting to eliminate toxins from the body. It is particularly effective in treating respiratory and digestive disorders.
- Virechana: This procedure involves controlled purgation to flush out toxins from the body. It is beneficial for liver and gastrointestinal disorders.
- Nasyam: Nasyam is a nasal cleaning procedure that helps remove excess mucus from the body. It is beneficial for various respiratory and neurological conditions.
- Asthapana Vasthi: This treatment involves the administration of herbal enemas to cleanse the colon. It is effective in treating digestive disorders and promoting overall detoxification.
- Anuvasana Vasthi: Similar to asthapana vasthi, anuvasana vasthi also involves the administration of herbal enemas. It is used to treat conditions related to the nervous system, reproductive system, and musculoskeletal system.
The panchakarma process begins with the snehapana phase, where the patient is advised to consume ghee or oil. This helps the special qualities of the ghee or oil to reach every cell in the body and bind with toxins or metabolic waste. The next phase involves massage and swedana (ayurvedic steam) to melt the toxins and ghee in the body. The main phases of vamana and virechana then help expel the toxins through controlled vomiting and purgation.
Panchakarma also includes the use of herbal medicines and therapies tailored to the individual’s specific condition. After undergoing panchakarma, the body is cleansed of toxins, and the person experiences improved absorption of nutrients and quicker relief from diseases.
At Ayurmantra Ayurveda, we offer panchakarma treatments that are designed to promote detoxification and restore balance to the body. Our skilled practitioners provide personalized care and guidance throughout the process to ensure optimal results. Experience the rejuvenating benefits of panchakarma and embark on a journey towards better health and well-being.
